Family blog

Hello Family,

Please feel free to blog about anything that is important to you or is relevant to this family.  I personally have a difficult time blogging; however, this is more of a fun thing, and you can use it as little or as much as you would like.

Have fun!

Love,
Michael

Snow in Shreveport, Louisiana?

posted Feb 15, 2010 3:56 PM by John Morrow

Although it snowed pretty much all day on Thursday, February 11th in Shreveport, LA, there was little to no accumulation of which to speak.  Therefore, when our family retired on that particular evening, we did not expect to find the winter wonderland that was awaiting us outside of our house the next morning.  OK, maybe this is a little dramatic.  However, waking up to find five inches of snow in my yard here in Shreveport, Louisiana, is comparable to waking up to find a great lake in the middle of a desert.  OK, still a little dramatic huh?  Well I guess you are probably here for the pictures.  So, here they are:

Yes,  the girls had a great time.  This was their first real snow, and they were running around like a rodent on Ritalin.  They were sliding down their slide into piles of snow; throwing snow balls at each other and me; making snow angels; and, with my help, making a large snowman.  It was one of those great family moments in which I'm sure the girls will never forget.

Now I have been receiving the emails and snow pictures from the rest of you guys, and I realize that you must think that we are crazy for getting so excited and playing in what must seem like such a trivial amount of snow.  However, we are in Louisiana; and we are known to be a little off.  Just kidding! (at least in regards to us)  I really do appreciate all of the pictures and emails that you all have been sending, and I will also be uploading those pictures to this site.  However, your pictures will make my winter wonderland look like a snow globe in a thrift shop.

I love and miss you all!

Alayna & Ariel Morrow's 5th Birthday Was A Blast!

posted Feb 2, 2010 4:23 PM by John Morrow

This past Saturday, January 30th, we celebrated Alayna and Ariel's fifth birthday.  The girls started preschool this year, and this was their first birthday attended by friends from school.  It was quite a site for me to see the twins playing and interacting with their school friends.  I was struck square in the face by the reality that my little twins are getting older and more independent.  I guess my mother was correct... Babies do grow up very quickly.

Their party was held at a place called Louisiana Cheernastics, which is kind of a cross between gymnastics and cheerleading.  All of the preparation, setup, coordination, and cleanup was handled by a very professional and friendly staff.  There were lots of activities and equipment to keep the children entertained.  In fact, I really wanted jump on the trampolines and inflatable bouncers but was told that they were for the children.  Oh well!  After all of the children had a full hour of play time in the gym area, the cake and refreshments were served; and the gifts were opened in a private party room.

By the time we made it back to our house, many of our family members were already gathered for a private and more intimate family birthday party for the girls.  We had more refreshments, and the girls opened many more presents.  However, the biggest and most unexpected present did not get unveiled until Sunday evening.  I was given the task of assembling a fifteen foot trampoline/enclosure combination but was delayed until Saturday morning due to inclement weather.  I did brave the frigid thirty-two degree weather Saturday morning before the party but was unable to complete the assembly until Sunday.  Alayna and Ariel's eyes were as big as saucers when they saw the large trampoline in the backyard on Sunday.  Seeing their expressions was well worth the mild discomfort I felt while assembling the unit in such cold weather; and after both girls hugged my legs and told me that they "loved me so much", I had one those rare daddy moments in which I felt like a true hero.

Alayna, Ariel, Sharon and I are all so very grateful for all of those who made this such a wonderful celebration.  We are truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.

Happy 32nd Birthday Sharon Morrow!

Today, January 25th, 2010,  is Sharon Morrow's 32nd birthday.  We celebrated her birthday with the immediate family yesterday at Sandy and Dian Sandefur's house.  Perhaps there are still more surprises being cooked up by me, Sharon's sneaky husband and the immensely talented creator of this site (Just Kidding).  After Sharon and I complete our work day and whatever surprises that may be in store, we hope to have a quiet dinner at home with our twin five-year-old daughters, Alayna and Ariel Morrow; however, we may feel so inclined to eat out.

I love you Sharon, and I hope that you have a wonderful day!

January 2010 Family Reunion

posted Jan 14, 2010 2:06 PM by John Morrow   [ updated Jan 15, 2010 9:33 AM ]

Hello All,

I had such a wonderful time at the family reunion.  I had no idea what I have been missing for all of these years.  All of you guys are so great, and I simply don't think that I will be able to wait so long to see all of you again.  For those ones that could not make it, you were missed; however, there will definitely be many more opportunities for us to visit in the future.  I think the general consensus of the family members who were able to make it is that we will have regular annual family reunions.  Hence the creation of this site.   In fact we have a sort of planning committee in the works... uh Lainie, I need you to find a date during the summer months and go ahead and make us a reservation somewhere nice.  Just kidding!  However, we are working on it... so no excuses!

I love and miss you all!
